A quirky village that's just a 10-minute taxi ride from Cannes, city streets of 5-story apartment blocks and chaotic gas stations abruptly turns to a rural landscape where chef Bruno Oger builds a food destination that's become a culinary pilgrimage for Cote d'Azur foodies and Cannes's celeb palettes. A terraced garden of perfect lawn and 100-year old trees surround a period villa that's divided into a 25-table gastronomic restaurant serving a prix-fixe menu of French specialties with neighboring more-casual Le Bistrot des Anges with an ala carte menu in a slightly larger dining space. Before and after dinner, guests retreat to the L'Ange Bar arranged in elegant leather club chairs with views of the surrounding mountainside.
The Food
A series of lunch and dinner pirx fixe menus offer incredible presentations unique to the Bruno Oger kitchen. Meals begin with flavors like white asparagus with citrus caviar, frog cappuccino in yellow wine and shrimp with bacon and peas. Main courses include specialties like necklace of sweetbreads with braised chicken with Morels followed by elaborate desserts and pastry presentation.
Last Word
Most know him as the former 2-star Michelin chef of Villa des Lys chef at the Majestic Cannes, but in 2010 Bruno Oger branched-out to his own gastro-hotel Villa Archange located in nearby Le Cannet.
